So I was asked by JoAnn’s to try and be more inspirational in terms of ideas for customers. Recently we received a ton of bird houses and they are in a crate as you come in the store, not very inspirational. So I am making a wreath using all items from JoAnn’s of course. This bird house is the first piece to go on. It’s mixed media I love the colors.

Clean up has been sporadic at best. Due to my babies graduation from Michigan State University. She is now a Spartan Alumnus. I intend now to go at this cleaning with gusto. I did get everything moved into one room, and eliminated furniture that was old and not white. I have a thing about white furniture, just love it. It’s time to start giving things away again. It’s always the hardest part.

Well at least it’s my week 11. So I have finally finished cleaning up the rubber stamps, which are the thing I have most collected over the years. I don’t know what it is about them that I like so much? They even out number my balls of yarn. Yikes. Any way they are cleaned out and I donated some to salvation army. Someone is going to get lucky. Here is a picture of the old cabinet I was able to clear and throw out.

Week 10 De-Hording

Most of you following this are going to think I am crazy when you read this, but hang with me. Around The Christmas Holidays I bought some celery from the grocery and when I opened it I found two snails. My original reaction ew….but then when they started to move I quickly removed them from the celery and made a little tank for them. Here is where the story gets a little weird. They escaped! I was sure my husband had just removed them and flushed them or they met the frozen death outside. So I didn’t think to much about it. Accept that I was sad. Well today I am cleaning up the kitchen table and stuck on the side of one of my cactus plants is one of the snails. I absolutely could not believe it. They are living in my house on their own. I don’t know why but I was just tickled they were still there. Crazy right? Oh well…he is still on the side of the container. Amazing!

Hey who is really counting the weeks anyway. I think it is week 10. So, I have more time to work on clean out of house since, my job at Joann’s has slowed down and the spring show I was in is cancelled. This is all to the good, girls are moved and there is only a little shake up in the house. We did inherit a blow up mattress for the summer until Jenna is ensconsed in what will be her living quarters for the next two years. We don’t know where that will be yet. She may even end up back home. If her new job is close enough. That however; is extremely doubtful. So I continue on. There is a detour in the works as Merrill is thinking about renovating his master suite. Which would mean I have to clean out my side of the closet. Fairly quick. So this becomes the new project…updates to come.

If you are still with me here is a quick update. One daughter is moved and decided to move all her furniture with her. Yes! The other daughter who is now subletting the older daughters apt. Has taken all the excess college furniture to her apt. Good Bye fouton!!!! This has opened up all sorts of possibilities for a new streamlined studio. Amen! It also means no girls will be moving back home for any amount of time. This means the room they stay in takes on guest room status. Clean out!!!! In other words if they don’t want it stored properly at the house it is going to charity. I think this years resolution is going to come true. Ps. Did go through the magazines again and out they went. We seem to be on a role again.

Week #8 Dehording

Just wanted to touch base with anyone who is following this week. I hit a snag. I did not throw a single magazine away yesterday, I wanted to save them all. This is a little scary as I now know what my two hardest things are to get rid of…magazines & rubber stamps, we should throw books in there too. It just seemed like they were full of things I really want to try some day. And as you can see in the picture there are a lot more rubber stamps than just those that you see. I may need my daughters help when she is nearer. So I guess I will look at them one more time to make sure I wasn’t just having a moment. Ugh!!!!

There is nothing like having your daughter get a new job and have to move to a smaller apt. to put a kink in your down sizing plans. From the pictures I have seen, I am pretty sure we will be getting some big furniture to store at the house. Good thing I was getting rid of some of the odds and ends stuff already. Now there will be room for her stuff. But the blessing is she will be closer to me and I would trade anything to have my kids close.

I am having to slow the pace down a little. Due to limited garbage can space. So this week I am perusing magazines, and recycling the ones that are not relevant anymore. I started this during the less than exciting Super Bowl game…just not into professional football. I am really surprised at just how many I am willing to let go of. There has been quite the stack mounting up to be recycled. I realized while going through them that the contents was mostly wishes and dreams, most of which are really unattainable for me, especially those with decorating ideas. I will post some pictures later of what is going. Till next time.
